One more day!

We've only 1 more day to wait then we can meet and start our long journey to The Gambia! Yay!

What are we going to do whilst we're away?  Quite a lot...

'Making science fun' workshop for local high school science & maths club.
Peer education sessions for 100 Gambian scouts & guides - topics including: Science, water sanitation & hygiene, craft, knotting, team building, backwoods cooking, tracking signs, menstrual hygiene, giant games.
Peer education session for the Kundembo girls - this is a group of teenage girls who are no longer able to go to school but are meeting regularly to try to learn new things themselves. We're doing a session on self esteem and menstrual hygiene.

First aid training day for 30 women from the local community.

Paint educational murals at a primary school.

We're planting some trees to provide much needed shade, some of us are going for a walk around the local nature reserve. We'll get to try the art of batik and some of us will learn some Gambian cookery. We'll visit a craft market in a local town called Brikama. We'll also get to try some African drumming and dancing!

Our fundraising is paying for the construction of a playground next to a newly built primary school.

It's hard to believe we'll only be there for a week when we see how much we are packing in to our schedule!

We'll do our best to update our blog regularly whilst we're away. Thanks for your support!
